Submissions |
Secular Games is always looking for talented artists and writers, who have a great comprehension of d20 mechanics. We welcome working with people new to the field, as well as more experienced writers. If you have an idea for a new product and are interested in working for us, please send a two to three page proposal email to secular@seculargames.com
These guidelines describe the conditions and types of modules we accept, and the submission process, including how we pay, when we pay, and the rates we offer.

For Writers |
Each submission should contain the follow:
1- Writer Info
Tell us who you are and how we may contact you. We would like to know of any other published work in your portfolio, and check at you gaming resume, including any other qualifications that support your ability to write this adventure. We do not accept projects from minors.
2- Proposal Info
Provide us with an overview of your book, with a provisional title, but be aware that we reserve the right to change it at any time. Write a brief outline describing the major ideas and the game content you’ll include in the material. We don’t want the whole setting or adventure, just a highlight of the important encounters and concepts. If you want the proposal can contain two or more possible article book ideas, and we shall choose which fits better in ours needs at the time. Give a rough estimate of each article’s length.
Give us an idea of how long it will take you to finish the project’s first draft. Advise us regarding the uniqueness of your idea, and show the reasons why a customer would want to buy and use this product.
3- Writing Sample
The last part of the submission is a full page writing sample. A few descriptive paragraphs, an excerpt from a story, or a sample monster or item you created are good ideas for written samples.
Consistently poor spelling, grammar, and sentence structure will almost certainly cause the material to be rejected. We don’t insist that manuscripts be perfect, but we like those that require little editing. A handful of errors on a proposal indicate we can expect dozens of errors on your manuscript.

For Artists |
We welcome artists to send us a link to your online portfolio. We are very quality focused and you should have an outstanding standard to your artwork regardless of whether it’s black and white or color, and be able to work within a deadline.
Don’t send us e-mail attached samples, at least until we ask you to do it.
We retain all publishing rights to artwork we purchase from you, but you are welcome to use it in your marketing as much as you like. You may not re-sell artwork done for us to anyone else.
Do not submit any manuscript or art simultaneously to Secular Games and to any other website, magazine or d20 publisher. Do not copy material from another source and pass it off as your own. Authors will bear full legal responsibility for such actions.
File Formats
For writing you can send us your files in word format, preferably in Rich Text Format (.RTF), always using Arial or Times New Roman and double spaced. Images should be sent in either jpeg or gif format, and in a fairly good size so we can see detail work.
Waiting
We may need as long as three weeks to make our evaluation of your query. If you have not heard from us after this much time, feel free to inquire by email about the status of your material.
Revisions
If your work is acceptable, expect to do some revision. We often ask for changes to manuscripts to adjust style, game balance, length, or focus. This revision can be made by you, or in most cases, by our editor.
Royalty
Secular Games always pays using the royalty system, in mostly cases 20% on the product’s price. Royalties are paid 120 days after the release, and from then made on January 15 and July 15.
